Coolest Gift

So I will post more, I promise. Especially since I get to see Miss Lorelai tomorrow and we are taking her to her first LYS. But I wanted to be sure to post this to all of the knitters out there. I got THE COOLEST bag for Christmas. It is from the Nantucket bag Company

I got the pink one. The pockets that you can see along the sides are PERFECT for storing needles (circs, straights, and double points)

The pockets are also perfect for notions, and it can hold even a medium sized projects (maybe not an afghan, certainly a sweater)

Check it out, it really is great.

Home for the Holidays

Well, I have arrived home, well I guess I did that a couple of days ago. I drove through the night on Friday night and got home early Saturday morning. After off loading the cat (who was wide awake for the entire drive due to the fact that he did not take his medicine) I went off to see the star of this Christmas for everyone.

Intruducing Lorelai Hope to my Blog. She is just amazing, and so is her mom
After a pretty rough day where the thoughts were probably more like this
She was amazing. She did everything a three week old baby should do.

She cried (see above photo, that should give you the idea)

She Ate

She burped
She opened presents (It is Christmas and Aunt Betsy was visiting

:

She looked really Cute. She filled a diaper (Which of course meant she got to change her clothes, why not the child has a bigger wardrobe that I do). So, here she is in her very cute Christmas outfit (well one of them)

As described by her mom, she has the greatest pout. I am sure that will come in handy later in teenage years.

And just so he does not feel neglected. Here is Hagrid at Grandmas house

Merry Christmas to All. I will post more as the week goes on.

KEEP NUTMEG KNITTER IN YOUR THOUGHTS

If you know the nutmegknitter Then you know one of my best friends on the planet. I just got a call from her (completely calm by the way as only she can be) She has been admitted to the hospital. They are going to see how things progress through the night, and then possibly induce tomorrow.

Trouble with Fetching

I know that this should be the easiest pattern on the planet, and I am sure that I have dome more difficult patterns than this, but I am having trouble understanding the thumb separating.

Next Round: Using waste yarn, k7; slip these sts back to left needle and k them again using working yarn; work in 4x1 Rib as set to end.

Work 4 more rounds in 4x1 Rib.

Work Cable Round.

Work 4 more rounds in 4x1 Rib.

How many stitches am I putting on Waste yarn, because later on it says.

Carefully remove waste yarn and place resulting live sts on two double-point needles; there will be 7 sts below the opening and 6 sts above. Attach yarn and k the 7 sts on lower needle; using a second needle, pick up and k 2 sts in space between upper and lower needle, k first 3 sts from upper needle; using a third needle, k remaining 3 sts from upper needle and pick up and k 2 sts in space between this needle and lower needle. 17 sts.

Can nayone offer some suggestions, I would really like to get this pattern done tonight.

Right now I have the most interesting house. I have one cat in one room, and she has resigned herself to the life of being in one room.

i just brought my new cat home to where I am house sitting. I have him contained to one room, and he isn't really thrilled about that. He wants to explore.

Then ther eis the dog. She knows that the cat is behind one door, and she an hear the other one crying behind another door. She is beside herself with curiosity.

Any advise would be great.

WIP's/FO's

Okay, so I finished a hat (used the garter brimmed hat pattern from LMKG) I used lumpy bumpy from Farmhouse YArns. I also finishe done Calorimetry and I am almost finished with 1/2 of a fetching. Her eis the problem, my hands hurt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really would like to have 2 pairs of fetching (still trying to decide which yarn I should use for the other) and one more calorimetry.

I will post pictures tomorrow, when I am really playing with my camera taking pictures ofHagrid. I was supposed ot bring him home today, but alass, his foster mom is sick and did not come inot work today.

I have been spending the bulk of hte day watching Next Top Model and SVU, it has been great.

If you are reading htis blog, and think something that has been finished might be for you, well. . . You will just have to wait. I will be posting some finished objects, but you will have to live in suspense until the big day.

Still waiting on word from nutmeg knitter as to the arrival of the little one. I have wagers placed on Sunday, as that is the wedding anniversary.

Please think about shopping here

Hello all,

I know this is non-knitting related, but it is theatre related. As you probably know, unless you are under a rock, there is a strike going on in New York. This strike has closed all but a few of the broadway shows. This time of year is the major fundraising time for a wonderful organization called Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS

This is a wonderful organization that has been raising money for people living with AIDS for many years. Usually, they would have the casts of shows raising money during the holiday time, and the casts have been known to raise upwards of $200,000. The website for the organization has a wonderful store, you can purchase clothing items, CD's (the holiday ones are great) and many other novelties that are holiday related. Please keep this organization in your Holiday giving htis year. Without the additional support, they will be struggling.

Okay, back on this planet

So the past few weeks have been, shall I say. . . . Okay, yeah they have been ridiculously busy. A few FO's to show off. First things first.
This is a Harry potter Scarf (DUH) and here it is, pleasantly modeled by my favorite seven year old.
I am really happy with how it came out. Now for the next bit of cuteness.
Be prepared, this is WAY Cute
I know, they are just too cute for words. I made them for my cousin who is due in April. Can't wait to see these on the little one.
Okay, now for the really big news, the theatreknitter is joining the ranks of pet owners, just check him out.
He is certainly tall (no that is not a short counter)
And totally handsome

And Very curious. He spent a lot of time at this door trying to figure out what was going on behind it. I am hoping to get him Thanksgiving weekend. We shall see. I can't wait. I am really looking forward to it.

Oh, and back on a knitting note. A few weeks back I got home after an OBNOXIOUS day at work, and in my mail box was the coolest package ever.

It is a Yarn Bouquet. It is from knitrella I think. Of course, it was ordered from me by none other than becca It is AWSOME. I think I may even make socks out of it. I found it even cooler that the card was handwritten. It is a bad picture, but I will show it anyway

I won't even bother getting into work right now, it is too hectic to discuss. Just crazy, but hopefully getting better. I promise to post more as the holidays get closer. wish me luck with Hagrid, Oh yeah, that is the cats name. How cool is that. Anyway, I have not officially been approved by the agency yet, so wish me luck.

It is just wonderful.

I started a shawl last night to wear to the gala. A nice practive at lace knitting. It is just some kidsilk haze (mmmmmmmmm, pretty) I am using two pinks. a Dusty rose and a baby pink. Nothing fancy, just a stockinette shawl. It is really nice and soft, and will go great with my brown dress. Added to that, I get to wear my pink shoes.

few projects done

I am at work right now, so no pics for you, sorry, but I finished a Gryffyndor scarf for Ian who is going to be HArry for halloween. I can't wait. Get to send that to him tomorrow. Working on a hat for becca Also made some mittens and will be making some booties. Made her a hat to leave behind in the nursery as a gift. It was kind of an accident, tht turned into a really cool idea I think.

Had a great weekend. I got to go and see Sleuth If you find yourself in the Greensboro area, I would totally go. I also got to see a great friend that I have not seen in 6 years. SHe was my old boss when I worked for north carolina shakespeare We went to the farmers market and drove around High Point it was really great. I highly reccommend recconecting with people from your past. THat is my tip for others for today. My tip to myself, learn to communicate with people at work. Yeah, that would be good. Not doing a great job of that, I will figure that out eventually. It would be nice if they would bend a bit as well, but I thin I am the one that has to give more this time.

bad blogger, no cookie

So seriously, I know how awful I have been. things at work this summer have been crazy, and add to that that I do not have he most consistant internet access, you now have my summer. I have been a good knitter though. My cousins afghan is coming along really nicely, I made a 7 foot long gryffyndor scarf, I finally finished the baby cargos, the chevron scarf looks wonderful. For right now, I offer a bit of zen for you all

That is our green show stage with a beautiful rainbow above. The smemr really has been great, but busy. I promise to post more pictures as soon as I have some consistant computer time.

I am not going to be taking classes in the fall, so if anyone knows anyone hiring in the eastern part of NC, let me know. Need to work on the bills, and get my residency in place before I start classes back up.

not off the face of the earther, just the internet

So seriously, I have not fallen off the face of the earth. Just the internet. updating is a bit tough these days, as I do not have regular internet access. I am updating as fast as I can. right now I am working on a Gryffyndor scarf for a friends birthday, and here is hoping it will be done in time for the book release.

I am also working on another chevron scarf, I will post the work in progress pics, they are pretty great.

other than that, things are good. Work is a bit crazed, but that is to be expected.

I can finally update!!!

So a couple weeks back I got to go to Webs with Becca It was great, and here are some of pictures to prove it.

Also, here is some great baby yarn.

Dont you just love the colors. I know that I do. THey aren't super pastelly, and I love them.

Well, I am sorry it has taken me so long to post. I am currently at PSF for the summer, and don't have the most consistant internet access. I will post as much as possible.

Two posts in one day

I know, pretty crasy. Still haven't tracked down my camera cable, so no new pics yet. SOon, I promise. Anywa. Tonight I went to Barnes and Nobles to visit a friend at work. When I went to get a nice Chai, I saw thee people sitting and knitting. I asked what they were working on, they all kinds looked at me a bit sideways. I pulled out my knitting (have chevron scarf will travel) and ended up knitting iwth them for a nit before wandering around the store with Tim while he shelved books. It was a GREAT night.

I promise, pictures soon

B

ooo, the packing gods are not with me right now

So I have great pictures of the WONDERFUL yarns that I bought this weekend at the mecca Webs it was AMAZING. they have a warehouse. Got items to start a number of Christmas gifts, It was great. I went shopping with Becca

I am back in PA, things are good, it will be a busy week.

My trip home was great. Becca and I had a lovely visit, went to see Grease, had a nice dinner with dad, found a tape of a show that I worked on years ago with friends of mine, and I have been listening to it all weekend long. It is great.

It's my last day in this Apartment

YAY!!!!!!!!
SO this is a great apartment, don't get me wrong. I have a GREAT bathroom (little tear at losing that), a nice kitchen, great location, a fireplace, lots of space, and a nice closet .But that is where there really nice things end. Everything else, I am pretty psyched to leave.

The non-communicative roommate: I get the we all want our privacy, but acknowledging the person that you live with is customary. If ONE MORE PERSON takes the single thing (ie: ball of yarn, book, etc) and leave it in a pile on the counter I am going to SCREAM!!!!! My step mother did that while I was living there. Granted, when she did it, she was cleaning the entire kitchen. This one does it, and her crap is still all over. Oh, and let us not forget that she is very particular about the kitchen, but she will leave her crap all over. The worst one, oh this is gross, she comes home with left overs, and leaves them out on the counter instead of putting them in the fridge.

then of course there is the rabbit. I love animals, all animals, but this creature that gets into everything, including burrowing in my box spring. . . .. now that is a problem, and she finds it funny. hey, more power to you if it doesn't bother you that the rabbit has chewed up half of the molding in your house, and scratched up the doors to the point of ruining it. If that is what you want, thats fine. But keep the creature away from my stuff okay.

IT was convenient and affordable, but my very own apartment calls. Well first, it is off to PSF, but then I am living with people that I know and adore. People who will be nice to me, talk to me, watch movies with me, and at the same time, they will leave me alone when I have my door closed. That is great.

well, I have rambled. As of tomorrow I am in PA till August. Anyone who finds themself in the allentown or bethlehem area, look me up.

end of the semester, and some knitted goodness.

Well, I have lots of knitted things going on. Currently I have 2 projects on the needles. The wedding blanket for my cousin Alison (her wedding is in June so I am hoping that it will be done in tie for me to send it out to her. I do have to get more yarn, i will hopefully get that when I head to CT. So here is the afghan in progress

I also made a wallet for my new camera Pre Felting:

And Post Felting

It fits my camera perfectly now that it is Felted, so that makes me happy. Prior to felting it was too big.

And for the next project, I blame lime and violet completely for this one. I have started the chevron scarf from LMKG. I am using Girly Girl Yarn and size 3 needles.

I am hoping that this will become a very nice light scarf that I can use all year long. I love the colors. The yarn was given to me by
becca last year after I lost my wallet, for the second time. She rocks. Some day I will actually make the bag that she gave me last year for my birthday. I have everything I need to do it. . . . Just need to make things for me more often.
Classes are done YAY!!!!!! now I just have to get packed up and moved. My yarn stash fits in 2 large space saver bags, so the entire stash is coming with me for the summer. You heard me. The whole stash. I know, I am terrible. I just don't like being without it, and since it is managable, why not take the whole thing with me.
OOOOO, any other Gilmore girls fans out there. ABC family is doing a marathon on Sunday, and it is ALL JESS!!!!!!!!! The way it should be. while Logan is growing on me, I will always be a Jess.
okay, that it it for now.

getting ready to pack

This time next week I will be just about packed up and ready to go back to PSF. Don't these people just look like a good time, they are. they are all great. this season is going to be great, the shows are fabulous, and I can't wait. In this photo we are on the set of As YOu LIke It. Classes are coming to a close, and I think I should finish out hte semester very well. Anyone who wants to know about my tech rehearsals, well you can ask later, I can promise you probably don't want to know. It ultimately was a great show.
well, I will be in touch this week, some more knitting to post later.

The Passing of a Theatre Icon

Today marks the passing of a Theater icon. Kitty Carlise Hart
Ms Hart was a legend in the theatre world. I had the opportunity to see her perform her one woman show "My Wicked Life on the Stage" and it was so incredible. She was gracious, classy, beautiful, and just incredible. She as 96 years old. May all of us live our lives as full as hers.

I will post more about this week later.

luv to all.

knitterly pen pal coolness

So I have become a knitterly pen pal, which I have to say is very cool. I love getting mail, and I love writing letters. It is just great. Well, becca just got back from Ireland, and we were talking about her trip. I mentioned my pen pal, and wouldn't you know. WE managed to have a pen pal in common. This is so cool. I love it.

Hope all is well. This week has the potential to be a bit stressful, but I will fill you all in with the show as it goes on.

talk to you all soon.

I'm back

This week has been a bit hectic, but now I have some pictures to show. First things first, the Afghan is done. I get to give it to her next week when we get together. so here it is:

Here are some detail shots to show as well:

The color is pretty true, it is one of the encore Heather colors. I am really pleased. I actually cast on too many stitches, so it is actually too wide, bit I am still happy with it. This is the 4th of this pattern that I have done. I made one in green for Becca, one for My sister Rebecca, one for my cousin Sarah. I have already cast on the one for my cousin Alison.

I also have some very cute baby stuff to show

This is baby Michelle, She is about 7 weeks old, she was born a bit early so the hat is still a bit large on her. This is the pattern from LMKG it was made with farmhouse yarns

It is the silk spun cotton, they don't seem to have a link for it. I love working with this yarn, in fact I am making a pair of cargo

Other than that, things are really good. I got my grant done already, so that is a wonderful thing. I only have a little bit to fix. I also finished my Press release, and I know that is just fine.

Guess that's it for now, I have a bunch of shifts to work this weekend, which will come very much in handy for the beginning of the season in PA. Only two weeks left till I head back up to PA, and am out of my current living situation. I can't wait.

Be Nice to Me

So here is the deal everyone. If you can't give blood (and most of you can) then try to set up a blood drive at your school, work, church, knitting circle, it doesn't matter. A little back story, it occured to me this year just how important it is to give blood. When I was born, my mother was given a large blood tranfusion, something along the lines of 6 units of blood. She would not have survived if it weren't for blood donations.

Please, it only takes a little bit of time, and drinking some extra water during the day.

Another picture

Well, you were all warned. I actually didn't really mean to put that picture there yesterday. It was taken at Long Beach Island, NJ last
summer on just a beautiful day with my friend Maria. If you look very closely into the picture you can also see this:
It is just such a wonderful idea on a nice day isn't it? Can't you just feel the sand beneath your toes. The cool thing was that, although it probably happens more often than not, Maria had never seen anyone actually do this, for fear their shoes would get stolen probably. I thought it was great.

Camera as therapy. Try it, you would be amazed.

off to class.

Grrrrr classes

So a lot has changed in seven years, most importantly research. you are expected to search for everything on the Internet, and when I was in school if you showed up with something from the Internet you would be laughed at. So, unlike everyone else in my classes, when I find something on the Internet, i am hyper critical of the source and it's value. Why would I use a source that is 9 years old? come on people, that just makes since to me. But when my professor gives us a topics to research that is school organization, and leaves it at that, then is not there for the class when we next meet. . . . and I am actually going to ask a question along the lines of "what exactly do you mean by School organization?"

I know I am not actually expecting a response to this, I will find it, this is just venting. I have already contacted the professor to ask him for some assistance as to what he needs. IT doesn't exactly help when my advisor, and director of the show I am sm'ing, calls to tell me that her Father is in the hospital and she will most likely not be in class tomorrow, and I will have to run the rehearsal. That isn't a problem, I can certainly control that, but that the press is coming on Thursday. I don't do press well. I don't like press. So hopefully everything will be fine by them.

More pictures to post, when I am not writing a grant or doing an annotated bibliography, or putting cues into my script, or. . . . . well you get the point.

off to a leadership meeting.

show of hands

As I sit here watching Lewis Black (Really offensive comedy is a weakness of mine) I am weaving in yarn ends on an afghan. Not a baby afghan mind you, a really large full size bed afghan. So, show of hands. Who would pay large amounts of money to have this done for you. . . . . Yeah, yeah, yeah, besides the fact that it would take away from good yarn funds. put that aside. I see a wonderful money making opportunity for someone out there.

Any takers?

Flickr

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.

On The Needles

So I have one finished object, and one on the needles (okay, that doesn't count the afghans, and the calpotis that I have to Frog)

So, I got my camera yesterday (WEEEEEEEEEEE)

Here is the yarn. Is it from Farmhouse Yarns
I can't recall the name of the color, I know it is not wildflowers. I bought it at the barn sale, so it was unmarked. Next time (note to self) bring a note pad, and get all the color names and weights)

Here is is on the needles

I used size sevens. Nothing fancy

And here is it finished.

I will probably add a snap to it. Nothing fancy, Just something to keep it from getting scratched up.

I am also working on something that is SUPER cute

These are the Baby Cargo Pants from knitty

They are really easy, I would highly recommend them. I am just about done. I hope to have them done this weekend. They are for my friend who is due in July. I hope that they will be able to be worn into the fall.

Well, today I am off to work on my Grant for Theatre Management and my calling script for the Runaway bear. Then hopefully I will be able to get the rest of my journal done for Childrens' Theatre. It will be a lot of work, but I would really like to get all of it done today. I would like to take my camera out to play tomorrow. It is so nice to have it.

hope everyone has a blessed Easter.

my first post

so here it is. I have given in and now have a blog. There is a lot you will learn about me by reading this, so let me give you a few things so that you have been forewarned.

knitting: i am addicted, obsessed, and fully willing to admit it.I love to knit. I makes me happy, it thrills me, it calms me, it excites me. crazy huh.

church: I am a re-newed catholic. I have been away from the church for a long time, doubting my faith and everything that came along with it. I have no welcomed it into my life with open arms. It is a bit strange for me, but I am enjoying it.

cooking. Love it. I love to cook all sorts of things (but I refuse to make green bean casserole, I hate the stuff). I will admit and I will get into food ruts and eat the same food for about a week at a time (quesadillas and yogurt, I could live on the stuff)

food in general: I love food. I love all food, i love to eat drink and be merry.

friends: my friends are my rocks. there are a few in particular that have seen me through so many things. I love them dearly, and am not quite sure where I would be without them

photography: I am heading out to get my new digital camera. I know finances are not great, I but I have been looking into this purchase for a long time. I want one, and I am getting it. You will see a wonderful photo journal of my life. I look forward to sharing my love of photography with you all.

family: I love them. I love them with all of my heart. I share their sadness, i rejoice in their victories, and I accept them with all of the quirks that come with them. I hope that they think the same of me.

Theater: It is my love, my passion, and my life. I cannot see myself in any other career, I love it.

Teaching: Everything in life is turning into a lesson plan. I see them in everything. I am currently back in school (at age 31) to get my teaching license in (insert surprised face here) theatre. I can't wait to be in the classroom

okay, so those are the major spots in my life that you need to know. I do hope that you enjoy this blog. I hope to share more with you all.
